Playing Softball
High School and College Years
Madison Shipman went to Valencia High School. She then attended the University of Tennessee. There, she played for the Tennessee Volunteers softball team from 2011 to 2014.
She helped lead the Volunteers to the 2013 Women's College World Series. Her team finished as the runner-up in that championship. They lost to the Oklahoma Sooners in the final game.
Professional Career and Awards
In 2014, Madison was chosen second overall in the National Pro Fastpitch draft. This is a major league for professional softball players. She was named Rookie of the Year in her first professional season. She also won the 2014 championship with her team, the USSSA Pride.
During her college career, she led Tennessee to the Women's College World Series twice. These appearances were in 2012 and 2013. In 2013, they made it to the finals but lost to Oklahoma.
As a senior in 2014, Madison received several important awards. She won the Senior CLASS Award for softball. She also earned the SEC Player of the Year award. Additionally, she received the Honda Sports Award, which recognizes the best softball player in the nation.
After college, she continued to play professional softball. She played for the USSSA Pride and the Scrap Yard Dawgs. Both teams are part of the National Pro Fastpitch league.

Becoming a Commentator
After her playing career, Madison Shipman started a new role. She became a commentator and analyst for softball and MLB (Major League Baseball) games. She has worked for ESPN in the USA. Since April 21, 2023, she has also worked for Sportsnet in Toronto, Canada. There, she helps broadcast games for the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.
