Madison Shipman, born in 1992, is a former professional softball player from America. She played college softball for the University of Tennessee.
Playing Career Highlights
Madison went to Valencia High School. After that, she played college softball for the Tennessee Volunteers softball team at the University of Tennessee from 2011 to 2014.
She helped her team, the Volunteers, reach the championship game of the 2013 Women's College World Series in 2013. They finished as the second-best team, losing to the Oklahoma Sooners. Madison also led Tennessee to the Women's College World Series in 2012.
In 2014, her final year of college, Madison won some big awards. She received the Senior CLASS Award for softball. This award goes to senior college athletes who are great in sports, academics, and their community. She was also named the SEC Player of the Year. On top of that, she won the Honda Sports Award, which recognizes the top female college athlete in her sport.
After college, Madison was picked second overall in the 2014 National Pro Fastpitch draft. This is like a big selection event for professional players. She joined the USSSA Pride team. In her first year, she was named Rookie of the Year and helped her team win the 2014 championship! She also played professional softball for the Scrap Yard Dawgs.
Life After Playing
After her playing career, Madison Shipman became a commentator and analyst for softball and Major League Baseball (MLB). She works for ESPN in the USA. She also works for Sportsnet in Canada, where she helps cover games for the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.
