Madisonville is a small place in Ralls County, in the state of Missouri, USA. It is not a city, but a quiet community. You can find it about four miles southeast of Center. It is also located right by the banks of Spencer Creek.
The Story of Madisonville
Madisonville was officially planned in 1836. This means its streets and building lots were carefully drawn out on a map. The community was named after James Madison Croswaite. He was the brother of one of the very first people to settle in the area.
A post office opened in Madisonville in 1838. This was a very important place where people could send and receive their mail. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1906.
