Magaly Ruiz was born in Santa Clara, Cuba, in 1941. She loved music from a young age. In 1981, she finished her studies in Composition at the Instituto Superior de Arte in La Habana. She learned from many famous teachers like Harold Gramatges and José Ardévol.
