Magdalena Ribbing (30 July 1940 – 29 September 2017) was a Swedish writer and journalist. She was well-known for giving advice on good manners and proper behavior. She married radio journalist Thomas Hempel in 1981.

Working as a Journalist
From 1970 to 2000, Magdalena worked as a reporter for a big newspaper called Dagens Nyheter. She wrote about politics and important events. Later, from 1993 to 1999, she became the main editor for a special section of the paper.
Magdalena was also a "Sommarpratare" (Summer Presenter) twice. This is a popular radio show in Sweden where famous people talk about their lives. She shared her stories on the Sveriges Radio show Sommar i P1.
Etiquette Expert
Magdalena became very famous for her advice on etiquette. Etiquette means the rules for polite behavior in society. She wrote a special column in the Dagens Nyheter newspaper. In this column, she answered questions from readers about manners, style, and how to act in different situations.
She also wrote fifteen books about etiquette. These books helped many people learn how to be polite and confident.

Magdalena was also a popular speaker. In 2010, she was the opening speaker at Stockholm Pride. This is a big event that celebrates diversity and acceptance.
