Maggie Siff (born June 21, 1974) is an American actress. She is known for playing important characters in popular television shows.
One of her most famous roles was Rachel Menken Katz, a smart department store owner, on the drama series Mad Men. She also played Dr. Tara Knowles, a surgeon, on the action-drama show Sons of Anarchy. For her role as Tara, she was nominated twice for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Siff also stars as Wendy Rhoades, a psychiatrist, in the series Billions.
In movies, Siff has appeared in the science-fiction film Push (2009) and the comedy-drama Leaves of Grass (2010). She also played the main character in the movie A Woman, a Part (2016).

Early Life and School
Siff grew up in New York City and went to The Bronx High School of Science. After high school, she attended Bryn Mawr College, where she studied English and graduated in 1996.
To become a better actress, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in acting from New York University's famous Tisch School of the Arts. After finishing school, she briefly worked at a type of investment company called a hedge fund. This experience later helped her with her role in the show Billions.
Siff's father was also an actor who performed on stage. He was of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. Siff has said that she feels connected to Jewish culture because of how she was raised.
Acting Career
Theater and Early Television
Before she was on TV, Maggie Siff acted in many plays. In 1998, she won a Barrymore Award for her performance in the play Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen.
Siff began her television career in 2004. She had guest roles in several popular shows, including Rescue Me, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Grey's Anatomy, and Law & Order.
Major Roles and Success
From 2007 to 2008, Siff played Rachel Menken Katz in the TV series Mad Men. Her work on the show earned her and the other actors a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award.
In 2008, she was cast in one of her most well-known roles, Dr. Tara Knowles on Sons of Anarchy. She played this character for six seasons.
Starting in 2016, Siff began starring in the TV series Billions as Wendy Rhoades, a performance coach and psychiatrist.
Movie Roles
Siff has also acted in several movies. She played a character named Teresa Stowe in Push (2009) and Rabbi Renannah Zimmerman in Leaves of Grass (2010). Some of her other films include Funny People (2009) and Concussion (2013).
Other Work
Besides acting on screen, Siff has used her voice for other projects. In 2017, she narrated the audiobooks for Gwendy's Button Box by Stephen King and Richard Chizmar, and its sequel.
In 2020, she voiced the main subject for a season of the film history podcast You Must Remember This, which focused on the life of producer Polly Platt. She is also the TV spokesperson for Betterment, an online investment service.
Personal Life
In 2012, Siff married Paul Ratliff. The next year, she announced they were expecting their first child. They have a daughter named Lucy. Siff's husband, Paul, passed away in 2021.
