Magic Mountain was a fun amusement park in Nobby Beach, Queensland, Australia. It was open from 1962 to 1991. The park was built on top of a mountain. Today, different buildings stand where the park used to be.
The Park's Beginning
In 1962, a man named Page Newman built a chairlift at Nobby Beach. This chairlift later became a big part of Magic Mountain. A small restaurant was also built at the top of the mountain. This idea was very successful! In its first year, 40,000 people rode the chairlift.
A special "Magic Castle" was added, which gave the park its "magic" theme. Page Newman sold the park in 1976 to George Carrett. Carrett owned the park until 1982. In 1983, new owners spent a lot of money, about A$13.6 million, to make Magic Mountain even bigger and better.

What Happened to the Park?
Magic Mountain closed its doors in mid-1987. The park then sat empty for a few years. In 1991, the land was cleared. It was divided into two parts in 1995. For a short time, the old park was used as a filming location. It appeared in a scene for the TV show Mission Impossible.
The land was later sold. Now, you can find restaurants, shops, and the Magic Mountain Resort Apartments there. These apartments are named to remember the old park. The only thing left of the chairlift is a street sign that says "Chairlift Avenue." The actual chairlift was moved to another park called Dreamworld. The parachute tower ride went to Australia's Wonderland. Both of these rides have also closed down since then.
