Magno Alves de Araújo (born January 13, 1976) is a former professional footballer from Brazil. He played as a striker, which means he was a player whose main job was to score goals.
Magno Alves was once known as the top scorer in the world among active players. This amazing achievement earned him the nickname "The Magnate."

Magno Alves: A Football Star
Magno Alves was born in Aporá, a city in Bahia, Brazil. He started his professional football journey in the mid-1990s.
Early Career and Rise to Fame
From 1998 to 2003, Magno Alves played for Fluminense. During this time, he played in 265 games and scored an impressive 111 goals. He helped Fluminense win the Rio State Championship in 2002. One of his most famous games was against Santa Cruz, where he scored 5 goals! This incredible performance helped him get the nickname Magnata.
Playing Around the World
After his time at Fluminense, Magno Alves played for several clubs in different countries.
- He had a short period in the K-League in South Korea with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.
- Then, he moved to Japan to play for Oita Trinita in the J1 League.
- In 2006, he joined Gamba Osaka, another top team in Japan.
- Later, he played for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
- He also played for Umm-Salal in Qatar.
In July 2010, Magno Alves returned to Brazil. He signed a contract with Ceará. He became a legend at Ceará, scoring 103 goals in 224 matches. This made him the club's 6th highest goal scorer of all time!
Magno Alves played in many official matches throughout his career. By August 7, 2021, he had scored over 483 goals in more than 986 games. He announced his retirement from playing football on July 28, 2022.
