Maicon Pereira de Oliveira (born May 8, 1988 – died February 8, 2014), known simply as Maicon, was a talented Brazilian footballer. He played as a striker for most of his professional career. Maicon was best known for playing in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Maicon's Football Journey
Playing for Volyn Lutsk
Maicon was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2009, he moved to Ukraine to join Volyn Lutsk, a club in the Ukrainian Premier League. In his first season, he scored 13 goals in 18 matches. His goals helped Volyn Lutsk get promoted to the top league.
In his second season, Maicon's scoring slowed down. He was then loaned to Steaua București in Romania for part of the season. He scored 5 goals in 16 games during this time.
Loan to Steaua București
On February 21, 2011, Maicon joined the Romanian team Steaua București on a four-month loan. He quickly made an impact. On April 13, 2011, he scored his first goal for Steaua. It was the only goal in their win against Oţelul Galaţi.
A few days later, on April 16, he scored two more goals. These goals helped Steaua win their match against Sportul Studenţesc. After his loan ended, Maicon returned to his club in Ukraine.
Back at Volyn Lutsk
Maicon's second full season in the Ukrainian Premier League was very successful. During the 2011–12 season, he scored 14 goals in the league. He also scored 5 goals in the Ukrainian Cup. He was the top goal scorer for his club that season.
Maicon finished the season with 19 goals from 28 matches. He was also the top goal scorer in the Ukrainian Cup. Because of his great performance, the champions of the Premier League, Shakhtar Donetsk, became interested in him.
Joining Shakhtar Donetsk
In the summer of 2012, Maicon joined Shakhtar Donetsk. He signed a three-year contract with the club. Since he joined after the season started, Shakhtar's manager decided to loan him out.
Loan to Zorya Luhansk
Maicon was loaned to Zorya Luhansk for the first half of the season. He made his debut for Zorya on September 15, 2012. He played against his new club, Shakhtar Donetsk, in that match.
Maicon's Passing

In February 2014, Maicon was playing on loan for Illichivets Mariupol. On February 6, he played his last friendly match against a Polish team. The Ukrainian team lost the game.
On February 7, the team returned to Ukraine. The next morning, February 8, Maicon was involved in a car accident in Donetsk. He passed away at the scene.
Shakhtar Donetsk, his main club, released a statement. They said Maicon was a "wonderful person" and a "talented footballer." The club added that it was a "terrible bereavement for each of us."
Maicon was 25 years old at the time of his passing. Shakhtar Donetsk confirmed that his contract would be paid in full to his family. He had a 7-year-old daughter and elderly parents.
