Early Life and Music Journey
Majesty Rose was born on February 29, 1992. Her parents are Lori Grant and Rickey York. She started writing songs when she was just ten years old. When she was seventeen, she taught herself how to play the acoustic guitar. Even though she is a talented singer and guitarist, she has never taken formal music lessons.
Majesty Rose went to Eastern Wayne High School and finished in 2010. She also attended Wayne Community College. Before she became famous on American Idol, she worked as a preschool teacher. She is also known in her hometown for helping out at churches and volunteering at nursing homes. She also worked on community projects.
Majesty Rose shared that she changed her name from Majesty Rochelle York to Majesty Rose. She did this as a fun dare before going on American Idol. She had always wished her name was "Rose."
Her Time on American Idol
Majesty Rose got her start on American Idol in a unique way. She was on vacation in Florida with her best friend's family. While there, she took part in a competition at The American Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios. She sang the song "Reflection" from the movie Mulan. She won the competition, which gave her a ticket to audition for the producers of American Idol.
During her time on the show, Majesty Rose impressed many people. She made it to the Top 11, but was in the bottom three contestants. However, another contestant, Ben Briley, was eliminated that week. The next week, she was again in the bottom three. This time, MK Nobilette was eliminated. Majesty Rose continued in the competition until she was eliminated in the Top 9.
Music After American Idol
After her time on American Idol, Majesty Rose continued to make music. In June 2016, she released an EP called Bloom. An EP is like a mini-album with a few songs. This EP received good reviews from music critics. In 2017, she released a single song called "Plunge." A single is a song released on its own, not as part of an album.
A few years later, Majesty Rose began working with Maverick City Music. This is a popular music group known for their gospel and worship music. She first appeared on their 2019 EP, Maverick City Vol. 2. She sang on the song "You Keep on Getting Better." This EP was very successful, reaching number 11 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. It also appeared on the Top Independent Albums and Top Christian Albums charts.
Majesty Rose continued her work with Maverick City Music in 2020. She was featured on two more albums: Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1 and Maverick City Christmas.
