Majulah Singapura facts for kids

Majulah Singapura is the national anthem of Singapore. It means "Onward Singapore" in Malay. A talented musician named Zubir Said wrote and composed this song in 1958. Seven years later, in 1965, it officially became Singapore's national anthem.

The song must always be sung in Malay. However, there are official translations available in Singapore's three other main languages: English, Mandarin Chinese, and Tamil.

Singaporeans are encouraged to sing their national anthem during special national celebrations. This includes big events like the National Day Parade, ceremonies at government offices and schools, and sports events where Singaporean teams compete. Singing the anthem helps everyone feel united and proud of their country.
