Makallé is a small town in Chaco Province, Argentina. It is the main town of the General Donovan Department. About 3,800 people live there.
The town got its name from a battle that happened far away. This battle took place in a city called Mekelle during the First Italo-Ethiopian War in the 1800s.
History of Makallé
Early Forts and Settlements
In the past, the Argentine government wanted to control more land in the northeast. This area was home to indigenous people. To do this, they built a line of forts. These forts were in places like Lapachito, Ciervo Petiso, and Makallé.
These forts helped new towns grow in the region. By the 1890s, many new settlers arrived. A lot of these new people were immigrants from Italy. They helped to build up the area and create the town we know today.
