Makin is a small, quiet place in Indiana, USA. It is not a city or a town with its own government. Instead, it is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it is part of a larger area, Warren Township, which is located in Huntington County.
A Look Back at Makin's History
Makin was never officially planned out like many towns are. It did not have a special map or "plat" drawn up for it.
Even though it was not a big town, Makin had its own post office for a while. This post office opened in the year 1882. It helped people living in the area send and receive mail.
The post office stayed open for about 20 years. It closed down in 1902. A man named Abraham S. Makin was one of the first people to be in charge of the post office there.
