Makoto Okubo (大久保 誠, Ōkubo Makoto, born 3 May 1975) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder.
Makoto Okubo's Football Journey
Makoto Okubo started his football journey in Japan. He was born in Nagasaki Prefecture on May 3, 1975. After finishing his studies at Fukuoka University, he became a professional player.
In 1998, Okubo joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima. This team plays in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. Okubo played as an attacking midfielder. This means he helped create goals for his team.
During his time with Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Okubo faced some challenges. He had some injuries. Also, other talented players like Toshihiro Yamaguchi and Chikara Fujimoto played in his position. Because of this, he did not play in many matches.
Makoto Okubo played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima until the end of the 2000 season. After that, he decided to retire from professional football.
