Malin Birgitta Baryard-Johnsson was born on April 10, 1975. She is a famous Swedish horse rider who competes in show jumping. Show jumping is a sport where riders guide horses over a course of obstacles, like fences and walls.

Malin started riding horses when she was just six years old. She quickly became a very skilled show jumper. When she was only 14, she won a gold medal in the Swedish Championships! In 2004, she married Swedish TV presenter Henrik Johnsson. She even tried being a TV presenter herself on a show called Barbacka that same year.

Malin Baryard-Johnsson has competed in many big events around the world. She has shown incredible skill and teamwork with her horses.

Olympic Games Highlights

Malin has represented Sweden in several Olympic Games.

  • At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, her team finished 7th.
  • In the 2004 Athens Olympics, Malin and the Swedish team won a fantastic silver medal in team jumping!
  • Most recently, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021), Malin achieved her biggest Olympic dream. She won a gold medal with the Swedish team in jumping! She also placed 5th in the individual jumping event.

World Championships Success

Malin has also done very well at the World Championships, which are like the Olympics for horse sports.

  • In 2002, her team earned a silver medal.
  • In 2018, the Swedish team won another silver medal.
  • In 2022, Malin and her team won a gold medal at the World Championships in Herning!

Top Horse and Rider Pair

One of Malin's most famous horses was named H&M Butterfly Flip. They were an amazing team! In 2003, they were named the FEI Best Horse and Rider Combination. This means they were considered the best pair in the world that year. They often finished in the top ten in many competitions.

Malin and Butterfly Flip also did very well in the FEI World Cup Final. They placed third in 2003 and had several other top ten finishes in different years.

In 2004, Malin even featured in a song! It was called Do You Wanna Ride? by Spånka.
