Mallo Cups are yummy candies shaped like a cup, made with milk chocolate and a fluffy marshmallow inside. They were first created in 1936 by a company called Boyer.

The Story of Mallo Cups

How Mallo Cups Began

Two brothers, Bill and Bob Boyer, started making candies like fudge in their kitchen in 1936. They did this to earn extra money during a tough time called the Great Depression, when many people didn't have jobs. Their mom and sister helped wrap the candies. The brothers then sold the treats by going door-to-door.

Soon, their candy business grew, and they moved production to a factory. There, they started trying out new ideas with chocolate. These experiments led to the invention of the Mallo Cup, which quickly became a favorite candy.

What's Inside a Mallo Cup?

Mallo Cups are made with milk chocolate, which includes sugar, cocoa butter, milk, and chocolate liquor. The marshmallow center has ingredients like corn syrup, sugar, water, and egg whites. There are also other ingredients that help keep the candy fresh and give it its special flavor.

In November 2010, Boyer also introduced a version of the Mallo Cup made with dark chocolate.

Where Mallo Cups Are Made

Mallo Cups are produced at the Boyer factory in Altoona, Pennsylvania. This is where all the delicious Mallo Cups are created for people to enjoy.

Mallo Cup Points

A few years after Mallo Cups were first made, something fun was added to the wrappers. Inside each Mallo Cup wrapper, you can find a cardboard coin called a "Mallo Cup Point." These points have pictures of coins on them.

Kids and collectors can cut out these cardboard coins and save them up. Once you have enough points, you can send them in to the company. Boyer has a special prize catalog where you can choose items like more Mallo Cup candies, cool clothing, toys, and other fun collectibles. It's like a reward program for candy lovers!
