About Mandy Wilkinson's Art
Mandy Wilkinson mostly creates abstract paintings. This means her art doesn't show real-life things exactly. Her paintings often mix flat, simple colors with bold, brushstroke designs. Sometimes her art even looks like it's coming out of the canvas! She likes to explore how art can be both flat and have depth.
Copied Paintings
In 2009, something unusual happened. Mandy's art dealer, David Godfrey, said she was the most copied living artist. This meant many fake copies of her paintings were being made. These copies were often made in art studios in China. They were then sold as if they were Mandy's original works. Mandy's real paintings sell for a lot, from £2,000 to £6,000. But the copies were sold for only about £45.
How to Spot an Original
Mandy Wilkinson shared a helpful tip to tell her original paintings from copies. She said she never put her signature on the front of her paintings. So, if you see a painting with her signature on the front, it's likely a copy.
