Manoury Island is a small island located in a very cold place called Antarctica. It is part of a group of islands known as the Palmer Archipelago. This island is not home to any people.
About Manoury Island
Manoury Island is found about 3 kilometres (1.5 nmi) south of another island called Gand Island. It sits at the northern end of a waterway known as Schollaert Channel.
Who discovered Manoury Island?
The island was first discovered by a French team exploring Antarctica. This team was part of the French Antarctic Expedition, 1903–05. The leader of the expedition, Jean-Baptiste Charcot, named the island. He named it after G. Manoury, who was the secretary for their journey.
