Exploring the Mansu Hill Grand Monument
This impressive monument features two main statues that are 66 feet (about 20 meters) tall. These central figures represent Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-il. Kim Il-Sung was the first supreme leader of North Korea, and his son, Kim Jong-il, later became the second supreme leader. In total, the monument includes 229 figures, making it a truly massive display.
The Mansu Hill Grand Monument was first shown to the public in 1972. When it was first built, only the statue of Kim Il-Sung was present. However, in 2012, the statue of Kim Jong-il was added next to his father's. This change updated the monument to include both important leaders.
