Manuel Galduf's Musical Journey
Manuel Galduf studied music at the Valencia Conservatory. There, he learned many instruments like the violin, piano, and oboe. He also studied how to direct an orchestra and compose music. One of his teachers was the famous Valencian composer Manuel Palau.
After his studies in Valencia, he continued to learn from top conductors. He worked with Volker Wangenheim from Germany and Igor Markevitch from Ukraine. Markevitch thought very highly of Galduf. They had a strong professional connection in the early 1960s.
Galduf was a military music director until 1980. During this time, he also led many famous orchestras worldwide. He taught orchestra direction at the Seville Conservatory too. Later, he left the army to focus fully on his career as a musical director.
Leading Orchestras Worldwide
Manuel Galduf has conducted many well-known orchestras. These include the Nationale de France, the English Chamber Orchestra, and the Hungarian Philharmonic. He also led the National Orchestra of Venezuela and the Dresdner Philharmonie.
From 1983 to 1997, he was the main conductor of the Orquesta de Valencia. He has also conducted most of the Spanish symphonic orchestras. Galduf is famous for performing new works by many Spanish composers for the first time.
Teaching and Mentoring Young Musicians
Galduf was a professor of Orchestral Conducting at the Valencia Conservatory. He taught there until he retired in 2012. He is also a member of important art societies, like the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.
Many of Galduf's students have become very successful. They have achieved high positions in both conducting and composing music. Two great examples are Cesar Cano, a Spanish musical composer, and Pilar Vaño, an orchestra conductor.
Since 1999, Manuel Galduf has been the main director of the Youth Orchestra of Valencia. He works hard to find and help talented young musicians. He helps them develop their skills and passion for music.
