Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua was born on July 21, 1976. He is a politician and banker from Equatorial Guinea. Since August 2024, he has been serving as the Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea. Before becoming Prime Minister, he was in charge of the country's national bank starting in 2012.

Early Life and Education

Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua was born in a place called Andom-Onvang, in the area of Nsok-Nsomo, Equatorial Guinea. When he was six years old, he moved to Spain. He lived there with his sister in Palma de Mallorca.

Studying in Spain

In Spain, Manuel finished his high school studies. After that, he went to the University of the Balearic Islands. There, he studied business and economics. He earned degrees in both subjects. Later, he continued his studies at Pompeu Fabra University. In 2005, he received a master's degree in financial management and business accounting.

Career in Banking

After finishing his studies at Pompeu Fabra, Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua worked briefly for the government in the Balearic Islands. Then, in 2005, he joined Santander Bank. He worked at the Palma de Mallorca branch.

Rising Through the Ranks

At Santander Bank, he started as an account manager. He then moved up to executive director. Eventually, he became the general director of the branch. In this important role, he supervised the bank's work in four different areas. He also helped make big decisions for the bank's main office in Madrid.

Leading the National Bank

In 2012, Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua returned to his home country, Equatorial Guinea. He became the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Banco Nacional de Guinea Ecuatorial (BANGE). This bank is the only private bank based in Equatorial Guinea. It is located in the capital city, Malabo.

When Manuel took over BANGE, the bank was in a very difficult situation. It was almost going bankrupt. However, he successfully turned the bank around. The magazine Jeune Afrique even called him the bank's "savior."

Expanding BANGE

As CEO and general director, Manuel oversaw a lot of growth for BANGE. By 2017, the bank had grown to 22 branches. That same year, it opened its first office in Spain. By 2019, BANGE had offices in almost all the districts of Equatorial Guinea. Besides leading the bank in his home country, Manuel also served on the board of directors for BANGE's office in Cameroon.

Awards and Recognition

Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua received several awards for his leadership at BANGE. In 2016, he was named the Equatorial Guinea Banking CEO of the Year. BANGE was also named the country's bank of the year. These honors were part of the Global Banking & Finance Awards.

In 2017, The Banker magazine named BANGE the Equatorial Guinea Bank of the Year. The magazine noted how stable the bank was, even during a tough economic time. Manuel also received an award from the African Banker in 2019. BANGE was again named the country's Bank of the Year by The Banker in 2022. Manuel also became the chairman of the board of directors for the Bange Business School in 2020.

Becoming Prime Minister

On August 16, 2024, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo announced that Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua would be the next Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea. He took over from Manuela Roka Botey. She and the rest of the government had resigned because they were seen as "ineffective."

In his announcement, the President said that Manuel would be in charge of coordinating the country's administration. His appointment came at a time when Equatorial Guinea was facing an economic crisis.
