A Leader in Honduras
María Antonieta de Bográn was a key figure in the government of Porfirio Lobo Sosa. He was the President of Honduras during her time as Vice President. She was seen as his main helper and advisor.
Her Role as Vice President
As First Vice President, María Antonieta de Bográn had a very important job. She also held the position of Minister of the Presidency. This meant she helped lead many major government plans and projects. She worked on different areas of how the country was run.
Before Becoming Vice President
Before she became Vice President, María Antonieta de Bográn had other roles in government. From 1990 to 1994, she was the director of the institute of tourism. This was during the time when Rafael Callejas was president. In this role, she helped promote tourism in Honduras.
The 2009 Election
María Antonieta de Bográn was a candidate for Vice President in the 2009 Honduran elections. She ran with the National Party. She was also the national chairperson for her party during those elections. The presidential candidate, Porfirio Lobo Sosa, won the election with about 55% of the votes. This victory led to her becoming the First Vice President.
