Marcel Grün

Marcel Grün (born November 20, 1946, in Cheb – died November 2, 2020) was a famous Czech astronomer, teacher, and writer. He spent more than 15 years as the director of the important Prague Observatory and Planetarium.

About Marcel Grün

Marcel Grün dedicated his life to studying the stars and space. He worked at the Štefánik Observatory, which is another well-known place for astronomy. He also studied at the Czech Technical University.

In the 1960s, when he was younger, Marcel Grün was part of a special group called the SPACE club. This shows his early passion for everything related to space. Later, at the Prague Planetarium, he became very involved in the study of astronautics, which is the science of space travel.

From 2002 to 2018, he led the Prague Observatory and Planetarium as its director. During this time, he helped many people learn about the wonders of the universe.

An Asteroid in His Honor

To show how important Marcel Grün was to astronomy, an asteroid was named after him! This asteroid is called 10403 Marcelgrün. It's a very special way to remember someone who contributed so much to understanding space.
