Marcelo Augusto Bonfá (born January 30, 1965) is a talented Brazilian musician. Many people know him simply as Bonfá. He became famous as the drummer for the popular Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana. After the band stopped playing together, he started his own music career. He has released three albums as a solo artist.

Marcelo Bonfá's Early Life and Music Journey
Marcelo Bonfá was born on January 30, 1965. His birthplace was the city of Itapira, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. His father worked for a bank called Banco do Brasil.
In 1977, when Marcelo was 12 years old, his family moved. They moved to Brasília, which is the capital city of Brazil. This move was an important part of his early life.
How Bonfá Started in Music
Before joining Legião Urbana, Bonfá played in other bands. He was part of a band called Blitz 64. He also played with a group named Dado e o Reino Animal.
In this band, he met Dado Villa-Lobos. Dado would later become a fellow member of Legião Urbana. These early experiences helped Bonfá grow as a musician.
Forming Legião Urbana
In 1982, Marcelo Bonfá helped create the band Legião Urbana. He formed it with Renato Russo. This band became one of Brazil's most famous rock groups.
Bonfá was the drummer for Legião Urbana. He stayed with the band for many years. He played with them until they officially stopped in 1996.
Bonfá's Solo Music Career
After Legião Urbana ended, Bonfá began a solo career. He released his first solo album in 2000. It was called O Barco Além do Sol, which means The Boat Beyond the Sun.
He released another album in 2004, titled Bonfá + Videotracks. His third solo album, Mobile, came out in 2007.
In 1988, Bonfá had a son named João Pedro Bonfá. His son's mother is actress Isabela Garcia. João Pedro also became a musician, following in his father's footsteps.
In 2012, Bonfá started a new band. It was called Bonfá e Os Corações Perfeitos. They released two songs on his official website.
