Marcus Anthony Georges-Hunt (born March 28, 1994) is an American-U.S. Virgin Islander professional basketball player. He plays as a shooting guard for the Sichuan Blue Whales in China. Marcus also played college basketball for Georgia Tech.

Marcus Georges-Hunt's Basketball Journey
High School Success
Marcus Georges-Hunt went to North Clayton High School. His coach was Martisse Troup. In his final year, he was amazing on the court. He scored 24.2 points per game. He also grabbed 14.3 rebounds and made 5.2 assists. His team, the Eagles, had a great record of 21 wins and 11 losses. They even made it to the state semifinals!
When Marcus finished high school, he was the best scorer in North Clayton's history. He had scored a total of 2,189 points. Experts thought he was a top player. ESPN ranked him as the 59th best player overall. He was also the 14th best small forward in the country.
College Basketball Days
After high school, Marcus played college basketball. He joined the Georgia Tech team. He was a starter for all four years he played there. During his junior year, he hurt his foot. This made him miss some games.
In his senior year, Marcus led his team to the 2016 National Invitation Tournament. The year before, their record was 12 wins and 19 losses. But with Marcus leading, they improved a lot. He averaged 16.9 points per game in his senior season. Because of his great play, he was named to the Third Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference. This was a big honor for him.
Professional Career Highlights
After college, Marcus Georges-Hunt was not chosen in the 2016 NBA draft. This means no NBA team picked him right away. But he didn't give up! He joined the Brooklyn Nets for the 2016 NBA Summer League. He played well enough to get noticed.
Playing in the NBA G League
In September 2016, Marcus signed with the Boston Celtics. But they later let him go. Then, in October 2016, he joined the Maine Red Claws. This team is part of the NBA Development League. It's a league where players can show their skills to NBA teams.
In February 2017, Marcus got a chance with the Miami Heat. He signed a short, 10-day contract. This helped the Heat because many of their players were injured. He even played in the NBA Development League All-Star Game! After his contract ended, he went back to the Maine Red Claws.
NBA Teams and International Play
Later in 2017, Marcus signed with the Orlando Magic. He played for them for a short time. After that, he joined the Minnesota Timberwolves in August 2017. He played 42 games for the Timberwolves. On November 9, 2017, he was sent to the Iowa Wolves, another G League team. But he was called back to the Timberwolves the very next day. On January 20, 2018, he had his best game with the Timberwolves. He scored 12 points and played for 29 minutes in a win against the Toronto Raptors.
Marcus returned to the Maine Red Claws in 2018. He later signed with the College Park Skyhawks in 2022. He averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3 assists in 28 games for them. In May 2022, he played for Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico. He also joined the Atlanta Hawks for the 2022 NBA Summer League.
Playing Overseas
Marcus has also played basketball in other countries. In October 2022, he played for Kuwait in the 2022 Arab Club Basketball Championship. He helped his team win their first-ever Arab championship! In May 2023, he was key in Kuwait Club winning the first WASL Gulf League championship. He scored a season-high 35 points in the final game.
In 2024, Marcus helped Shabab Al Ahli finish second in the 2024 Basketball Champions League Asia. He was even named one of the top five players in the tournament!
On September 20, 2024, Marcus Georges-Hunt signed with the Sichuan Blue Whales again. This is his second time playing for this team in China, as he was with them from 2020 to 2021.

Marcus Georges-Hunt has three brothers and sisters. He also has three children of his own.
