Chef Marcus's Journey
Starting Out in London
Marcus Gleadow-Ware grew up in London, England. His first job in a kitchen was washing pots at a place called the Huntingdon Arms. This was a great way to learn about how a busy kitchen works!
When he was 16 years old, Marcus got an amazing chance. He started an apprenticeship at the famous Savoy Hotel. An apprenticeship is like learning a skill on the job from an expert. He learned from a top chef named Anton Edelman.
Learning and Growing as a Chef
To become an even better chef, Marcus went to the Académie Culinaire de France. This is a special school where chefs learn advanced cooking skills. After his training, he worked in many well-known restaurants across Europe. Some of these places included Cliveden House Hotel and L'Escargot. He even became the head chef at a restaurant called The Clerkenwell.
Moving to New York City
In 2007, Chef Ware moved to New York City. Soon after, a famous chef named Charlie Palmer asked him to join his restaurant, Aureole. Marcus started as a senior sous chef. A sous chef is the second-in-command in a kitchen.
By 2011, Marcus Gleadow-Ware became the executive chef of Aureole. This means he is in charge of everything that happens in the kitchen. Charlie Palmer has said that Marcus is a "very committed and talented chef." He also mentioned that Marcus's "passion and dedication" can be seen in every beautiful dish he creates.
