Marek Špilár (born 11 February 1975 – died 7 September 2013) was a talented Slovak football player. He played as a defender. Marek won national league titles with MFK Košice in Slovakia and two more with Club Brugge KV in Belgium. He also played for football clubs in the Czech Republic and Japan during his career. Marek played for the Slovak national team 30 times between 1997 and 2002.

Marek Špilár played for several football clubs in different countries. He started his youth career in Slovakia before moving to play professionally.
Playing in the Czech Republic
Marek began his senior career with Petra Drnovice in the Czech Republic. He played there for two seasons. Later, he returned to the Czech Republic to play for Baník Ostrava and Sigma Olomouc.
Playing in Slovakia
After his first time in the Czech Republic, Marek played for Tatran Prešov in Slovakia. He then joined 1. FC Košice, where he helped the team win a national league title.
Playing in Belgium
One of the most successful parts of Marek's career was when he played for Club Brugge in Belgium. He helped them win two national league titles and the Belgian Super Cup in 2005.
Playing in Japan
Towards the end of his career, Marek moved to Japan to play for Nagoya Grampus Eight. This was a new experience for him, playing in a different football league.
