Catalina Margarita López Ramos (born June 21, 1924 – died July 4, 2005), known as Marga López, was a famous actress. She was born in Argentina but became a Mexican citizen. She starred in many movies and TV shows.

Early Life and Family

Marga López was born on June 21, 1924, in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. Her parents were Pedro López Sánchez and Dolores Ramos Nava. She had six brothers and sisters.

When she was a child, Marga started performing with her siblings. Their group was called Los Hermanitos López. They traveled and performed in many countries.

In 1936, her family group visited Mexico. There, Marga met Carlos Amador, who produced movies. She married him twice, first in 1941 and again in 1961. They had two sons, Carlos and Manuel. Later, in 1964, she married actor Arturo de Córdova. He passed away in 1973. Marga also had a brother, Manuel López Ramos, who was a well-known guitar player and teacher.

A Star in Mexican Cinema

Marga López began her acting career in Mexican movies in 1945. Her first role was a waitress in a film called El hijo desobediente. She became a big star during the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. This was a special time when many great movies were made in Mexico.

She acted in over 80 movies. She worked with famous actors like Pedro Infante and Tin Tan. Some of her most famous films include Salón México (1949) and Nazarín (1958). In Nazarín, she acted alongside Ignacio López Tarso.

Besides movies, Marga López also appeared in many telenovelas, which are like long TV dramas. Her last telenovela was Bajo la misma piel. In 2004, she was honored at a film festival for her long and successful career.

Marga López had health problems in her later years. She suffered from lung issues and had heart problems. On July 4, 2005, she passed away in Mexico City at the age of 81.
