Margaret Rose Henry (born June 20, 1944) is an American politician. She was a very important leader in the state of Delaware. From 1994 to 2018, she served as a member of the Delaware Senate. This means she helped make laws for the state.
In September 2017, Senator Henry announced she would not run for re-election. She had represented District 2 in the Senate. Margaret Rose Henry studied at Texas Southern University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She also received a Master of Arts degree from Springfield College.
Senator Henry made history as the first African-American woman elected to the Delaware Senate. While in office, she worked to improve the justice system for young people. She also helped start a program that helps people stay healthy. In March 2018, she received a special award for her many years of hard work. She also supported laws about weapon safety.

Margaret Rose Henry had several elections during her time in politics. These elections helped her become and remain a state senator.
Early Elections
- In 1994, Margaret Henry first ran for the Senate as a Republican. She won the primary election with many votes. Then, she won the main election against the Democratic candidate.
- In 1998, Senator Henry decided to change her political party. She became a Democrat. In that election, she ran unopposed, meaning no one ran against her. She won with many votes.
Later Elections
- In 2002, she won the Democratic primary election. She then ran unopposed in the general election and won again.
- In 2004 and 2008, Senator Henry continued to run unopposed. This shows how much support she had from the voters. She won both elections easily.
- In 2012, she was again unopposed in the general election. She received a very high number of votes.
- In 2014, Senator Henry won the general election against a Republican candidate. She received a large majority of the votes.
