Margery Mason (born September 27, 1913 – died January 26, 2014) was an English actress and director. She was known for her many roles in movies and TV shows. Margery also led the Repertory Theatre in Bangor, Northern Ireland during the 1960s.

Margery Mason's Acting Career

Margery Mason had a long and interesting career in acting. She played Sarah Stevens in a four-part play series called Talking to a Stranger in 1966. This was a family drama where each play showed the story from a different character's point of view.

She appeared in many films. Some of her movie roles include Charlie Bubbles (1968), Clegg (1970), and The Raging Moon (1971). She was also in Made (1972) and Hennessy (1975).

You might recognize her from some famous movies. She played the teacher's wife in Pink Floyd – The Wall (1982). She was also "The Ancient Booer" in the popular 1987 film The Princess Bride. Later, she appeared in 101 Dalmatians (1996) and Love Actually (2003).

One of her most memorable roles for young audiences was the lady who worked the sweets trolley. She appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005).

Margery also acted in many television shows. She was in Midsomer Murders and Peak Practice. She played Mrs. Porter in the TV series A Family at War from 1970 to 1971.

Margery Mason's Personal Life

Margery Mason was a very active person. She learned to scuba dive when she was 81 years old! She even got her diving certificate.

She loved to travel and was a skilled horse rider and tennis player. Margery continued to swim five times a week at the Swiss Cottage baths until she was 99 years old. She officially retired from the stage in 2003, at the age of 90.

Margery Mason's Death

Margery Mason passed away peacefully at her home in Swiss Cottage. She died on January 26, 2014, at the age of 100.
