Marián Čišovský (born November 2, 1979 – died June 28, 2020) was a professional Slovak football defender. He was known for his strong play in the center of defense. Čišovský played for several clubs during his career, including Inter Bratislava, Žilina, and Viktoria Plzeň. He also represented his country, Slovakia, in international matches.

Early Life and Career Beginnings
Marián Čišovský started his football journey in his hometown of Humenné, Czechoslovakia. He began playing for the youth team of Humenné. He then joined the senior team in 1996. This was the start of his long and successful career in football.
Playing as a Defender
As a centre back, Čišovský's main job was to protect his team's goal. He would stop opposing players from scoring. Centre backs are usually strong, good at heading the ball, and excellent at tackling. They also help start attacks by passing the ball from the back.

Inter Bratislava
From 1999 to 2004, Čišovský played for Inter Bratislava. During his time there, the team won the Slovak Superliga twice, in 2000 and 2001. They also finished as runner-up in 1999. He played over 100 games for the club.
MŠK Žilina and Artmedia Petržalka
After Inter Bratislava, he moved to Žilina in 2004. He helped them finish as runner-up in the Slovak Superliga in 2005. Later, he joined Artmedia Petržalka. With Artmedia, he won the Slovak Superliga in 2008.
Politehnica Timișoara
From 2008 to 2011, Čišovský played for Politehnica Timişoara in Romania. The team finished as runner-up in the Liga I (Romanian top league) twice, in 2009 and 2011. They also reached the final of the Romanian Cup in 2009.
FC Viktoria Plzeň
Čišovský joined Viktoria Plzeň in 2011. He became a very important player for the team. In 2010, while playing for Plzeň, he scored a crucial goal in the 93rd minute against MyPa. This goal helped his team draw 3–3 and qualify in the Europa League. He also scored a goal in a 2–0 win against Oţelul Galaţi.
International Career
Marián Čišovský also played for various Slovak national teams. He represented Slovakia U18 and Slovakia U21. He also played for the Slovakia Olympic team in 2000. From 2002 to 2013, he played 15 matches for the senior Slovakia national football team.
His Illness and Legacy
In 2011, Marián Čišovský was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This is a serious illness that affects the nerves and muscles. Despite his illness, he showed great courage and strength. He passed away on June 28, 2020, at the age of 40. Marián Čišovský is remembered as a talented and dedicated footballer.
