Marianne Dubuc, born in 1980, is a talented Canadian author and artist. She creates wonderful books for children. Marianne lives in Quebec, Canada.

She was born in Montreal, a big city in Canada. She went to the Université du Québec à Montréal to study graphic design. This helped her learn how to make beautiful pictures for her stories.

Marianne's first book, La mer, came out in 2006. It was later translated into English as The Sea in 2012. Her second book, Devant ma maison, became very popular. It was translated into more than 15 languages! Today, her books are available in 25 different languages around the world.

Marianne also shares her skills with others. She has led many workshops in libraries in Montreal. These workshops were part of the Blue Metropolis festival, which celebrates books and reading. In 2015, she traveled to Valladolid, Spain, to teach workshops there too.

In Front of My House

Devant ma maison was published in 2010. It was translated into English as In Front of my House in the same year. This book was recognized as a Best Book for Kids & Teens by the Canadian Children's Book Centre. It was also named an Outstanding Book for Young People with Disabilities by the International Board on Books for Young People.

Animal Masquerade

In 2012, Marianne released Au carnaval des animaux. This book was a finalist for the Governor General's Award for French-language children's illustration. When it was translated into English as Animal Masquerade, it was named an Outstanding International Book by the USBBY.

The Lion and the Bird

Le lion et l’oiseau came out in 2013. This book won the prestigious Governor General's Award for French-language children's illustration. It also received the Prix Alvine-Bélisle [fr]. The English version, The Lion and the Bird, was published in 2014.

The Bus Ride

L'autobus was published in 2014. This book won the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award and the Prix jeunesse des libraires du Québec. It was translated into English as The Bus Ride in 2015. Like Animal Masquerade, it was named an Outstanding International Book by the USBBY. The German translation, Bus fahren, was even nominated for the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis.

Mr Postmouse’s Rounds

In 2015, Marianne's book La tournée de Facteur Souris was released. It won the Prix jeunesse des libraires du Québec. The English translation, Mr Postmouse’s Rounds, also came out in 2015. This book received the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children's Book Award. It was also named a Best Picture Book by Kirkus Reviews.
