Marianne Bruus Jelved (born September 5, 1943) is a Danish politician. She has been a member of the Folketing, which is Denmark's parliament, representing the Danish Social Liberal Party. Marianne Jelved has held several important jobs in the Danish government, including being a minister for economic affairs, culture, and Nordic cooperation.

Early Life and Education
Marianne Jelved was born in Charlottenlund, Denmark. Before becoming a politician, she trained as a teacher. She also earned a master's degree in education. For 22 years, she worked as a primary school teacher.
Political Career Highlights
Marianne Jelved began her political journey in local government. From 1982 to 1989, she served on the municipal council for Gundsø Municipality.
Joining the Danish Parliament
In 1987, Marianne Jelved was elected to the Parliament of Denmark, also known as the Folketing. She represented the Danish Social Liberal Party. By 1990, she became the political leader of her party.
Serving as a Government Minister
During the 1990s, Marianne Jelved held important roles in the Danish government. She was the Minister of Economic Affairs from 1993 to 2001. She also served as the Minister for Nordic Cooperation from 1994 to 2001. These roles were part of governments led by the Social Democratic party.
In 2007, Marianne Jelved stepped down as the political leader of her party. However, she continued to be a member of parliament.
Later Ministerial Roles
From 2012 to 2015, she served as the Minister of Culture. She was also the Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs from 2014 to 2015. These positions were part of a government led by Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt.
As of the 2019 elections, Marianne Jelved was the oldest member serving in the Danish parliament. She continued to serve in the Folketing until November 2, 2022.
