Marie Loeper-Housselle was born on February 11, 1837. Her hometown was Gross-Lesewitz in West Prussia.

She started her career as a teacher in a city called Elbląg. There, she finished her training to become an educator.

Moving to Strasbourg and New Ideas

After she got married, Marie moved to Strasbourg in Alsace. Living there made her think about new ways to help teachers. She also became very interested in making education better for girls.

Starting a Magazine for Teachers

She created the first professional magazine for teachers in Germany. It was called Die Lehrerin in Schule und Haus. This means "The Teacher in School and Home." This magazine helped teachers share ideas and learn from each other.

Founding a Teachers' Association

She also started an organization called Allgemeine deutsche Lehrerinnen-Verein. This translates to "General German Teachers Association." This group brought teachers together. It helped them work as a team to improve schools and teaching methods.

Later Life and Legacy

Marie Loeper-Housselle passed away on January 25, 1916. She died in Baden-Baden, Germany. Her work helped to shape education for girls and women in Germany. She left a lasting impact on the teaching profession.
