Marie Ragnhild Takvam (born Skylstad) was a talented Norwegian writer and actress. She was born on December 5, 1926, and passed away on January 28, 2008. Marie Takvam wrote many different kinds of books, including poetry, novels, and stories for children. She also wrote plays and acted in films.

About Marie Takvam

Marie Takvam was born in Ørsta, Norway. Her parents were Johan Skylstad and Martha Sperre. She grew up on a farm in Hjørundfjord as the oldest of five children.

After finishing high school in Nordfjordeid in 1945, she moved to Oslo. There, she met her future husband, Johannes Takvam. They got married in 1950, but their marriage ended in 1975. Marie started studying psychology at the University of Oslo. However, she had to stop her studies when her first son, Magnus Takvam, was born. Magnus later became a journalist.

Her Work at NRK

In the 1950s and 1960s, Marie Takvam worked for NRK, which is Norway's public broadcasting company. She was a program leader for children's shows. This means she helped create and present programs especially for young viewers.

Marie's Writing Career

Marie Takvam was a very active writer. Over 45 years, she published 12 collections of poetry. She started her writing career in 1952 with a poetry book called Dåp under sju stjerner.
