The museum is at 24191 Gilbert Road, Camp Barrett, Quantico, Virginia. It was not always in this spot. The museum first opened in Richmond, Virginia. In 2005, it moved to its current home at Marine Corps Base Quantico.

The Marine Raider Museum has received special honors. In 1997, it won the Colonel John H. Magruder III Award. This award comes from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. It shows how important and well-regarded the museum is.
