Mario Sarto (born October 13, 1885 – died September 13, 1955) was a very important Italian sculptor. He was famous for creating beautiful statues, especially for churches and to remember important people or events. Many of his large sculptures can be found in the Monumental Cemetery of Bologna.

You can also see his statues in the main squares of many Italian cities. These include Codigoro, Ferrara, and Bologna. His sculptures often show patron saints or brave heroes from the two World Wars.

Mario Sarto's great-uncle was Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto, who later became Saint Pius X. Mario studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan. After his studies, he opened his own art studio in Bologna. He lived and worked there for the rest of his life.
