Marion Gibbons (born Marion Chesney; June 10, 1936 – December 30 or 31, 2019) was a Scottish writer. She was famous for her many romance and mystery novels. Her writing career began in 1979.

She wrote many popular historical romance novels. She used a version of her maiden name, Marion Chesney. These books included the "Travelling Matchmaker" and "Daughters of Mannerling" series.

Marion Gibbons also wrote under the name M. C. Beaton. With this name, she created very popular mystery novels. Her most famous mystery series are Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth. Both of these book series were later made into TV shows.

She also used other pen names for her romance novels. These names included Ann Fairfax, Jennie Tremaine, Helen Crampton, Charlotte Ward, and Sarah Chester.

Her last series as Marion Chesney was an Edwardian mystery. It featured a character named Lady Rose Summer. Lady Rose was a charming young woman who liked to be independent. She teamed up with Captain Harry Cathcart, a poor aristocrat. Marion Gibbons stopped writing this series because she was very busy with her Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth books.
