Mark Simpson is a journalist and writer who worked for the BBC, a big news organization. From 2008 to 2013, he was their main reporter for Ireland, known as the Ireland Correspondent.

Mark Simpson's Journey in Journalism

Mark Simpson started his career in journalism after finishing university in 1988. He studied History and Politics at Queen's University Belfast. He began working at newspapers in Northern Ireland, including the News Letter, The Irish News, and the Belfast Telegraph.

In 1998, Mark joined the BBC. He became a political correspondent, which means he reported on news about politics and government. In 2000, he was even nominated for an award called Television News Broadcaster of the Year.

A few years later, in 2005, he moved to Leeds, England. There, he became the North of England Correspondent. This role meant he reported on important news stories from that part of England for the national BBC News programs.

Then, in 2008, Mark returned to Belfast. He took on the important job of Ireland Correspondent, reporting on all the major news from Ireland for the BBC. He held this position until 2013.

Mark Simpson was born in 1968. He grew up in Helen's Bay, which is near Bangor in County Down, Northern Ireland. Today, he lives with his family in Holywood, also in County Down. He has three daughters.
