Mark Vancuren, born on March 13, 1964, is an American politician. He served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, representing the 74th district, from 2018 until 2025. As of January 1, 2025, he became the Deputy County Commissioner for the 2nd district in Tulsa County.
About Mark Vancuren
Mark Vancuren is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. Before he became a politician, he worked as a biology teacher. He also coached many sports, such as basketball, baseball, golf, and track, at Owasso High School. In 2018, he participated in the 2018 Oklahoma teachers' strike, where teachers asked for better pay and more funding for schools.
His Time in the Oklahoma House
Mark Vancuren was elected to represent the 74th district in the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2018. He served there until January 1, 2025. In December 2024, Vancuren announced he would leave the legislature. He chose to resign to become the deputy county commissioner for Lonnie Sims. He started his new job on January 1, 2025. His wife, Sheila Vancuren, was the first person to announce she would run in the special election to take his place in the House.
