Mark White (born July 7, 1962) is an American musician. He is famous for playing bass guitar in the rock band Spin Doctors. Mark has also played with many other bands. These include The Robotix and The Heavy Pets.

Besides playing, he is also a songwriter. Mark teaches music at places like the Rockin' Robin Music Center in Houston, Texas. He has also spoken about his beliefs at events like the American Atheists National Convention.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Mark White was born on July 7, 1962. His hometown is the Bronx in New York City. He grew up in the New York area. Later, his family moved to Queens.

In Queens, Mark became known in the local music scene. His very first bass guitar was an Epiphone. It was made for right-handed players.

Starting a Music Career

Mark White played in several bands. In 1988, he met Aaron Comess. They joined a band called Spade. This band mixed funk and punk music.

Mark showed off his fast bass playing style. Aaron Comess had a background in jazz music. Their different styles made the band unique.

Mark left Spade after a few months. But he soon got a new opportunity. He was asked to try out for a band called Trucking Company. This band was started by John Popper.

John Popper later left to focus on his band, Blues Traveler. So, Chris Barron (singer) and Eric Schenkman (guitarist) continued Trucking Company. They invited Aaron Comess to join them.

Mark White joined Trucking Company after his audition. With Mark, the band's sound changed a lot. This was because of Mark's wide range of musical tastes.

Eric Schenkman came up with a new name for the band. They decided to call themselves the Spin Doctors. This name showed their new combined sound.

The Spin Doctors recorded their first album in 1991. It was called Pocket Full of Kryptonite. This album had two big hit songs. They were "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong". These songs became very popular.

During the tour for their second album, Turn It Upside Down, Eric Schenkman left the band. Other guitarists played with them for a while. Mark White left the Spin Doctors in 1999.

Later, the band stopped touring. This was because Chris Barron had a voice problem. In 2001, the original members reunited for a special show. This show was at a famous place called the Wetlands. Mark joined them for this reunion.

This special show led to the band getting back together. The reunited Spin Doctors released new albums. These included Nice Talking to Me in 2005. They also released If the River Was Whiskey in 2013.

In 2022, Mark White left the band.
