Marlene Tseng Yu (born 1937) is an artist from Taiwan and America. She is famous for her huge paintings inspired by nature. These paintings are in a style called Abstract Expressionism. She has shown her "Forces of Nature" series in many places. These include Europe, Asia, and North America. She also started the Rainforest Art Foundation.

Biography
Early Life and Education
Marlene Tseng Yu finished her studies at National Taiwan Normal University. After that, she went to the University of Colorado at Boulder. There, she earned her master's degree in fine arts. She then taught art at the University of Denver.
Her first interview on TV was with Barbara Walters. This happened on The Today Show.
Art Style and Inspiration
Marlene Yu learned art in both Eastern and Western styles. This helped her mix Chinese painting with Abstract Expressionism. She tried new things with acrylic paint. She also created her own ways to use brushes. She painted on canvas and paper. Nature was her main source of ideas.
Her most important theme is "Forces of Nature." She wants to show the spirit of the universe. She captures its rhythm, movements, and moods. She paints natural things like avalanches and geysers. She also shows coral reefs and calving glaciers. Other inspirations include black holes and volcanoes. She also paints stalagmites, amber, and crystals.
Recent Artworks
Some of Yu's very long artworks are always on display. They are in a round room at the QCC Art Gallery. These works are about 33 feet (10 meters) long. Other artists like Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol also have temporary shows there. Art students from QCC have written about her art.
In 2006, she made four paintings called "Elements of Life." These showed Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. After that, she painted "March of the Icebergs." This series was made because of worries about global warming.
Personal Life
Marlene Tseng Yu and her husband, James K. Yu, lived in SoHo, New York City. He is a real estate developer. They lived there from 1969 to 2007. In 2008, they opened a new art studio. It is in Long Island City, Queens. They have two children, Daniel and Stephanie.
