About Marlene Tseng Yu

Marlene Tseng Yu studied art at the National Taiwan Normal University. After that, she moved to the United States. She earned her master's degree in fine arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Later, she taught art at the University of Denver.

Marlene Tseng Yu learned art in both China and the United States. This helped her combine Chinese painting styles with abstract expressionism. She experimented with acrylic paints. She also created her own special brush techniques. Her main inspiration for all her art is nature.

Exploring Nature Through Art

Her main art theme is "Forces of Nature." She wants to capture the spirit of the universe. This includes its rhythm, movements, and different moods. She shows both quiet and angry parts of nature. She uses colors and forms to show natural events.

These events include avalanches, geysers, and coral reefs. She also paints calving glaciers and black holes. Other inspirations are stalagmite formations and amber resin. She also paints Aspen leaves, wind, red rock canyons, crystals, turquoise, and volcanoes.

In the 1980s, she created a smaller series called the "Dream Series." These paintings told a love story.
