MarsCon is a fun science fiction convention held every year in Williamsburg, Virginia. It started in 1990 and is a place where people who love science fiction, fantasy, and related topics can meet up. It's known for being a friendly and relaxed event. Many people say it's the biggest and longest-running science fiction and fantasy convention in the Tidewater area of Virginia.

History of MarsCon

MarsCon began because of an older convention called Sci-Con, which was a popular science fiction event in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 1990, the people who organized Sci-Con decided to hold a smaller, more relaxed gathering just for their members. They called it a "relaxicon."

After that first year, this new convention got a new name: MarsCon! It was named after a funny, long-running joke about trying to host the big World Science Fiction Convention on the planet Mars in the year 2095.

MarsCon is all about having a good time and making friends. It offers many cool activities. You can join in on panel discussions and workshops, where experts talk about different topics. There's also lots of gaming, including role-playing games and card games. You can watch anime in the video room, explore the dealers room for cool stuff, or check out the art show. They even have an annual tea party and an auction that raises money for charity!
