Marsha Singh (born 11 October 1954 – died 17 July 2012) was a British politician. She was a member of the Labour Party. Marsha Singh served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bradford West. She held this role from 1997 until 2012. An MP is a person elected to represent a group of people in the national parliament. She stepped down from her role because of health reasons.

About Marsha Singh
Marsha Singh was born in Punjab, India. She later moved to the United Kingdom. She studied at Loughborough University. There, she earned a degree in Languages, Politics, and Economics.
Her Work Before Parliament
Before becoming an MP, Marsha Singh worked in local government. From 1983 to 1990, she was part of the Education Department for Bradford City Council. This council helps run the city of Bradford. After that, from 1990 to 1997, she worked for the Bradford Community Health Trust. This organization helps with local health services.
Serving as an MP
Marsha Singh became the MP for Bradford West in 1997. She was elected during a big election win for the Labour Party. She worked hard to represent the people of Bradford West.
In the 2010 general election, she won again. She even increased her lead over other candidates. This was a strong result for her.
Stepping Down and Later Life
On 29 February 2012, Marsha Singh announced she would retire. She did this because of her health. She officially left her seat on 2 March 2012.
After she left, a special election was held. This is called a by-election. George Galloway won this election.
Marsha Singh was married and had two children. She also had four grandchildren. She passed away on 17 July 2012. This was about four months after she left Parliament. She died while on holiday in the Dominican Republic.
