Marta Canales facts for kids
Marta Canales Pizarro (born July 17, 1893 – died December 6, 1986) was a talented musician from Chile. She was a violinist, a leader of choirs, and a composer. Marta was born in Santiago, Chile. She started playing the violin at a very young age. When she was just eleven years old, she performed a famous piece called the "Concerto" by Felix Mendelssohn.
Marta and her brothers formed a music group that played together from 1916 to 1920. After she stopped performing as a violinist, she began to study how to compose music with a teacher named Luigi Stefano Giarda. She then spent her life creating her own music and leading choirs. Marta Canales Pizarro passed away in Santiago when she was 93 years old.

- "Elevación": A musical poem for organ, harp, and string orchestra.
- "Cuatro canciones de cuna": Four lullabies for four voice choirs.
- "Dos canciones": Two songs for four equal voices.
- "Cantares Chilenos" (1946): A collection of ten Chilean folk tunes, arranged for equal voices in choirs.
