When Martha eats the alphabet soup, the letters don't go to her stomach. Instead, they take a wrong turn and travel all the way to her brain! This magical mix-up gives Martha a very special gift. She suddenly gains the ability to speak human language!
The Talking Dog's Troubles
Martha loves her new voice and talks all the time. She chats about everything! However, her family starts to get a little annoyed. Martha talks so much that they complain about it. Because of their complaints, Martha decides to stop eating her alphabet soup. Without the soup, she slowly loses her ability to speak.
Martha Saves the Day
One night, a burglar breaks into Helen's house. Martha tries to bark and warn her family, but she can't speak! She is completely speechless. The burglar, not knowing Martha's secret, offers her some alphabet soup. Martha quickly eats it. As the letters go to her brain, she gets her voice back! Martha immediately calls the police. The police arrive and catch the burglar. Martha's family is incredibly grateful for her quick thinking. They realize how important her voice truly is.
