Martine Leavitt (born 1953) is a Canadian American author who writes exciting novels for young adults. She is also a creative writing teacher. Her books often win awards and are loved by readers around the world.

About Martine Leavitt
Martine Leavitt was born in Canada in 1953. She went to the University of Calgary and Vermont College of Fine Arts. She earned special degrees from both schools.
Martine Leavitt has a big family. She has seven children and twenty-one grandchildren! She lives with her husband in Alberta, Canada.
She writes many popular books for young adults. One of her recent books is Buffalo Flats. Her novel Calvin won a big award in 2016. This award is called the Governor General's Award for English-language children's literature.
Another book, My Book of Life by Angel (2012), was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. It also won the Canadian Library Association Young Adult Book of the Year award. Keturah and Lord Death (2006) was a finalist for the National Book Award.
Martine Leavitt also teaches creative writing. She works at Vermont College of Fine Arts. She holds a special teaching position there called the Katherine Paterson Endowed Chair.
