Martyn Ashton (born 2 December 1974) is a famous British mountain bike trials rider. He was a world champion and a stunt rider. Martyn started riding professionally in 1993. Many people call him a mountain biking legend. He helped make trials riding a very popular part of mountain biking. In 2013, Martyn had an accident that left him unable to move his legs. This happened during a bike show at the British Moto GP.

Martyn Ashton's Amazing Career

Martyn Ashton is a retired trials and stunt cyclist. He began riding motorcycle trials as a child. In the early 1990s, he switched to mountain bike trials.

Early Achievements

Martyn became a four-time British Biketrial Champion. He also won the World Expert Biketrial Champion title. Martyn holds a Guinness World Record for the Mountain Bike High Jump. In 2008, he joined the 'Hall of Fame' for Mountain Biking UK magazine.

His Accident

He fell from a high bar during a bike show. This accident caused severe injuries to his spinal cord. It left him unable to move his legs.

Life After the Accident

Even after his accident, Martyn kept his love for the outdoors. He uses special wheelchairs that can go almost anywhere. He also returned to mountain bike riding. He uses a bike that has been changed a lot to help him ride. In 2017, he even took part in a race called the Crankworx Air DH. This race was in Whistler, British Columbia.

Martyn Ashton lives in Port Talbot, Wales. He continues to inspire many people.
