The Martyrs of Christ the King Cathedral (also called the Piedras Negras Cathedral) is a Catholic church. It is located in the city of Piedras Negras, in the northeast part of Mexico. This city is close to the border with Eagle Pass in the United States.
This beautiful church is found inside the Residencial Tecnológico area. It is considered one of the city's modern architectural treasures.
Important Events at the Cathedral
In March 2008, a very special event happened here. The Martyrs of Christ the King Cathedral is the main church for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Piedras Negras. A diocese is like a church district.
Many important church leaders came to this event. They included the Apostolic Nuncio Christophe Pierre. An Apostolic Nuncio is the Pope's representative in a country.
Also present was Cardinal Francisco Robles Ortega from Monterrey. A Cardinal is a high-ranking official in the Catholic Church. Seventeen other bishops and many Mexican Catholic Church leaders also attended.
