Mary Tonkin is a talented Australian artist. She is well-known for her amazing drawings and paintings. In 2002, she won the Dobell Prize, which is Australia's top award for drawing. She received this prize for her artwork called Rocky Outcrop, Werribee Gorge 2000.

Mary was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1973. She loved art from a young age. In 1992, she started studying at Monash University. There, she earned two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and a Masters in Fine Arts.

After finishing her studies, Mary also taught art. From 1996 to 2004, she was a lecturer at Monash University. She helped many students learn about art.
