Mary Vaughan Jones facts for kids
Mary Vaughan Jones (born May 28, 1918 – died 1983) was a super talented Welsh author and a dedicated schoolteacher. She is famous for writing many wonderful books for children, which are still loved today!
She was born in a lovely place called 'Firs Cottage' near Llanrwst in 1918. Later in her life, she passed away in the Rhuddlan area in 1983.
Her Amazing Books
Mary Vaughan Jones wrote about 20 books, mostly for children. She also wrote regularly for magazines published by the Urdd, which is a big youth movement in Wales.
Many of her books have been re-published, so new generations of kids can enjoy them. Some new books even feature her original characters, like Sali Mali a'r Ceffyl Gwyllt by Dylan Williams. Her characters are so popular that they've even appeared in children's TV shows on S4C and on fun merchandise! The first drawings for her books were done by Rowena Wyn Jones, and later by Jac Jones.

A Teacher's Journey
Before becoming a full-time author, Mary Vaughan Jones was a teacher. She taught at several schools, helping many young minds grow.
